Written by barbers, and honest about it
There are plenty of guides to barbers in Singapore. Most are written by people who've never held a pair of scissors. This one is different, and it's upfront about how it's put together.
How the shops are chosen
Every shop in here is a real, working barber, picked on the strength of the craft: how a cut is read and finished, how the room is run, and whether the standard holds up visit after visit. We describe each one fairly and on its own terms, with no invented faults, no made-up quotes or awards, and nothing paid for. Where a shop's details are public we list them and link through, so its own work does the talking. If we wouldn't send a friend there, it's not in the guide.
Who writes this guide
A guide is only worth reading if it's honest about how it's put together. This one is written and run by people who actually work in the trade — barbers and grooming folk, not anonymous reviewers churning out lists. So what you're reading is the judgement of people who know a good cut from a merely tidy one, and who have their own strong views about the shops on it. Every ranking is explained in the shop's own entry, on the strength of the work, so you can weigh it for yourself.
Every shop is judged on the strength of its work. That's the whole basis on which we ask to be believed.
Why trust it anyway
Because a guide has to be useful or nobody comes back. The cuts, grooming and questions sections are written to help you whether or not you ever set foot in the shop at the top. And the other salons are named and located fairly, because a guide that runs down its rivals isn't a guide, it's an advert. We'd rather earn the read.
